We’re very thankful for some of the rain relief that some areas may have received over the last couple of weeks. This is definitely a relief for certain areas affected by drought. However, the moisture may have come too late. Being this late in the season, it may not make a big difference to the quality and quantity of forages available.
Then, there were some areas that didn’t receive any relief! Many ranchers at Dakotafest were discussing that fact that the rains were very spotty. Some had a good amount of moisture, and others just miles away, received no moisture at all.
With the drought becoming a reality in the lives of ranchers, especially in South Dakota, North Dakota, Montana and Nebraska, we are getting a lot of questions from ranchers in these drought stricken areas.
Beef producers across the United States are pretty upbeat right now with the market rallying. It’s intriguing that people in Beijing, China will be enjoying eating good quality steak before long.
Hello to all our customers, followers, and to the beef industry, we hope you are enjoying ranching! With the vivid colors of spring making the landscape 'pop', and the cattle market rallying, it sure does give a guy an extra boost, doesn't it? We noticed an article this morning saying beef exports are almost 25% up from a year ago, which is very encouraging! We're sure that we can join together as the beef industry to feel thankful for what we have.
